Spent two nights here with my partner as a birthday surprise with activities planned in the area. The Manor: Absolutely stunning location filled with history and original features through out. They have a dining area, breakfast seating, game room / bar with billiards and chess, and a small pool. We didn't use the game room but can appreciate the option was there. The pool is advertised as part of the spa package if you're not staying - I'd say this is a bit of a stretch, but we did give it a go. The Room. We stayed in the Dorothy suite, which again was beautiful. The Room was kitted out with a Nespresso machine and pods, and there were welcome cookies. Every morning warm muffins were hung on our door which was also a nice touch. The room was comfortably warm, and has an ensuite. Now some drawbacks; the skylight in the bathroom leaked during the rain causing an unfortunate slip hazard. Hopefully this gets sorted before someone else stays. The bay window also let water by. The bed is advertised as superking, but in actuality it's two separate mattresses put together. This means if you sleep nearer the middle of the bed, you lay on the uncomfortable edges of each mattress. I just couldn't get on with the pillows either, they were very pouffy whereas my preference is something more firm. Lastly, the ensuite door had a glass pane. So as soon as daylight appeared through the skylight in the bathroom, I was awake. Food: Breakfast was £15pp, and was really nice. There was a menu for hot food items, and additionally there were cereals, juices, bread and spreads.i personally enjoyed the muesli, yoghurt, and compote which tasted homemade. Dinner was hit and miss, in terms of what I had ordered. The cheese souffle was incredible, but the roasted beet and goats cheese main was extremely small for the £22 price tag. Don't get me wrong, it tasted great, but should be half the price and probably listed as a starter instead. Spa Treatments: This was definitely a highlight of the stay. Emma, the masseuse, was very calming and helped me relax during the hot stone massage. I definitely need this and really helped some of the muscle aches and pain I had. Definitely don't miss out. Overall, the stay will live as pleasant memory. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and I'm sure if I'd raised any of the negatives with them they would have gone above and beyond to rectify. Most importantly, my partner had a wonderful time.
